This live edge walnut coffee table is truly unique! I started with a gorgeous and long crotch-cut slab of black walnut. The slab was cut in half (lengthwise) to flatten and jointed back together. From there, I ebonized the entire top. I then tinted the lighter sapwood on the edges a stronger black and also applied a thick black stripe offset the center of the slab. The results are a black java colored top with three very subtle stripes running the length of the top. The top was then finished in multiple coats of satin poly and buffed down to a glass-like smoothness. The top is married four 3-bar steel hairpin legs in an industrial finish.
